Picture

Our Furry Fernglade Friends

Parkie the Tasmanian Devil, Billy the Platypus, Milo the Spotted Quoll and Sugar Pops the Sugar Glider are all waiting to say hi when visitors check out our library display for the school holiday program. They will be visiting the library from the 9th to the 23rd of July.

Did You Know?

There are lots of terrific facts on show about some of our favourite Fernglade residents. For example, did you know that the Tasmanian Giant Freshwater Lobster can grow up to 6kg in weight and can live up to 60 years old in the wild.

Children's University

Anyone who is a Children's University member can bring their passport along to the library and complete our activity sheets. All the information you need to complete the task is on the display. Once finished, take your activity sheet to a Librarian to receive a stamp!

The first ever Burnie Platypus Festival has now been and gone and FoF and Burnie City Lions all worked really hard leading up to the festival and on the day to ensure people had fun and learnt heaps about Fernglade reserve and conservation.

With a number of local stall holders offering a variety of nature themed hand made goods, art and crafts; community organisation stalls; tours at Fernglade; kids activities including face painting, henna tattoos, archery and colouring in; a range of environmental presentations; good food and some live music thrown in; there was plenty to do and see on the day and there were a lot of smiling faces around.
